Assessing the way Vietnam applies President Ho Chi Minh's foreign policy in international relations in general and in relations with Canada in particular, Mr. Fernandez affirmed that Vietnam today is implementing the guidelines and policies that President Ho Chi Minh left in his Testament. According to him, President Ho Chi Minh's foreign policy is based on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, recognizing the independence, sovereignty and self-determination of nations and peoples. The flexible and adaptable foreign policy is based on the principle of world peace and social progress. The Canada - Vietnam Friendship Association member expressed his pleasure at the fact that the relationship between Vietnam and Canada has become stronger in recent years, and hoped that this trend would continue to be maintained and further developed.
Commenting on Vietnam after gaining national independence and applying the policies and advice of President Ho Chi Minh, Mr. Fernandez said that the achievements that Vietnam has achieved speak for themselves. Gaining national independence under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam founded by him has helped the Vietnamese people take control and build their own future. Vietnam is also playing an important role in protecting the independence and sovereignty of all countries in the United Nations (UN) as well as in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
