Police cut cabin to rescue truck driver involved in accident in HCMC

At about 4:30 p.m. on November 23, the male driver drove a 5-ton truck with license plate 51C-873.38 on Vo Van Kiet Avenue, heading through the Saigon River tunnel to Binh Chanh district.

When approaching Ong Lanh Bridge (District 1), this vehicle collided with a 7-seat car traveling in the same direction, then lost control and crashed into the median strip, hitting a sign post and traffic light.

The collision injured the male driver and left him trapped in the cabin. The female passenger sitting in the next seat suffered minor injuries and was helped out by passersby.

The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police of Ho Chi Minh City Police arrived at the scene. The police used specialized tools to cut the cabin and brought the driver out, transferred him to an ambulance and took him to the hospital for treatment.

The incident caused traffic congestion of more than 1km in the area. District 1 authorities and Ben Thanh Traffic Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
