On the morning of May 27, the Vietnamese sepak takraw team entered the final match against Japan in the men's 4-a-side event. Before that, the team had defeated Thailand with a convincing score of 2-0 in the semi-finals.

This is a proud achievement for Vietnamese sepak takraw because Thailand is still considered the absolute king of sepak takraw. Especially in the men's category, Vietnam has never been rated too highly.

After the victory over Thailand, the Vietnamese team could not continue the surprise when they lost 0-2 (7-15, 10-15) to powerful Japan.

Japan had a great start and won the first set easily. In the second set, there was a time when Vietnam led 8-6, but then Japan scored a series of important points to turn the game around.

Although they could not win the championship, this is still a historic silver medal for Vietnamese sepak takraw in the men's category.

Previously, the women's sepak takraw team also won silver medal in the team event (3-person team) after losing to Thailand 0-2 (7-15, 7-15) in the final held on the evening of July 26.

This is the content that Thailand always dominates, so Vietnam's failure is understandable.

Vietnam still has hope of winning the world gold medal with the final match of the women's 4-person event - continuing to face Thailand, scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, July 27. This is a highly anticipated match for Vietnamese sepak takraw.
