Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Police issued a warning about information security loss, property loss, and facilitating technological crime from animation creation applications that are currently trending on social networks.

Ho Chi Minh City Police pointed out the risks that people who download and use animation creation applications may face, including:

One is the disclosure of personal information along with the image (including information about the device, time, location of the photo), information on the electronic device due to downloading and granting certain device access rights to the application.

Second, users have their portrait photos collected, from which bad guys use to create fake videos through Deepfake technology, making fraudulent Video calls to the victim's relatives.

Third, users are exploited by portrait images to steal personal account information with facial recognition devices and other information security risks.

Based on the investigation into the risks and harmful effects of the trend of creating cartoon images on social networks as mentioned above, Ho Chi Minh City Police recommends that users should select and use reputable methods and applications that have been evaluated by competent authorities.

In addition, users must carefully read and understand the terms and requirements before installing and using the application.

When installing any application, users need to consider what permissions the application requests access to.

In addition, the police recommend that social media users limit sharing images, information, and personal data on social media platforms and especially do not provide sensitive, private images to social media.

The above recommendations are also the main content that the Department of Information Security - Ministry of Information and Communications continuously warns Vietnamese social network users when the trend of editing anime photos - creating photos of cartoon characters through apps appears.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Khiem - representative of the Department of Information Security said that recently, the Department has implemented many measures and at the same time promoted propaganda work to raise people's awareness of protecting information, images and personal data in cyberspace.
