On the occasion of Youth Month and the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024), the Youth Union of the Vietnam Engineer Corps has had many meaningful and practical activities towards the people and young communities of the Abyei region (Africa).

In the Youth Union of the Engineering Corps, there are some very young people who, as soon as they left their positions as leaders, immediately wrote a volunteer application to join the Vietnamese peacekeeping force.

Traveling over 11,000km, the young people with their enthusiastic spirit left strong impressions on the difficult land of Abyei.

Taking advantage of holidays and breaks, Vietnamese youth union members divide into groups to repair and make tables and chairs for schools, support local people in planting agricultural crops or provide water to residential areas, hospitals, churches, etc.

Especially during Youth Month, the Youth Union coordinated with the teams to repair the road in the center of Abyei area to ensure people's travel, especially in the upcoming rainy season.

In the heat of over 40 degrees Celsius, along with unexpected sandstorms, but with determination, Vietnamese youth union members participated in repairing the road. Thanks to that, in less than 3 days, the road was completed and put into use.

Mr. Deng Aguer - President of Abyei Youth Association shared his joy because the road was completed with the help of Vietnamese friends.

"I would like to express my deep and sincere gratitude to all of you Vietnamese, wishing you to always fulfill your assigned tasks well and continue to support this Abyei region even more," he said.

Senior Lieutenant Le Huu Khanh - Secretary of the Vietnam Engineer Corps Youth Union, shared that from the first days of the year, the Vietnam Engineer Corps Command directed the Youth Union to develop plans and actively deploy shock activities to carry out the unit's regular and unexpected tasks, as the core force in providing humanitarian support to local people.

TTO - 184 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Engineer Corps No. 1 have completed preparations and are ready to depart for the Abyei Mission to undertake a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission. This is the first time that Vietnamese engineers have undertaken an international mission.
