On June 24, Thanh Hoa General Hospital reported that doctors at the unit successfully saved a woman who suffered an electric shock that led to cardiac and circulatory arrest without leaving any neurological sequelae.

The patient is Ms. HTH (born in 1981), residing in Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province. Ms. H. was completely healthy before the incident. In a household accident, she accidentally touched an exposed electric wire, was electrocuted, and lost consciousness, suffered cardiac arrest, and circulatory arrest.

Immediately after the accident, Ms. H. was taken to Nhu Thanh District General Hospital by her family for emergency treatment. Here, doctors quickly performed external cardiac compressions and successfully re-established circulation, helping the patient's heart beat again.

After having a heartbeat, Ms. H. was transferred to Thanh Hoa General Hospital in critical condition. The patient was in a deep coma, had multiple organ failure, and had to be maintained on high doses of vasopressors. Doctors assessed the patient's risk of death as very high due to multiple organ damage after prolonged circulatory arrest.

At the hospital, Ms. H. received intensive resuscitation measures.

Master, Doctor Do Minh Thai, Head of Intensive Care Unit 1 - Anti-Poison, Thanh Hoa General Hospital said that patients with prolonged cardiac arrest often have severe brain sequelae.

"This is an extremely difficult case, we have to race against death every minute. Thanks to the synchronous application of modern, specialized resuscitation techniques, combined with close monitoring and flexible adjustment of the regimen, we have successfully controlled the patient's entire recovery process," informed Dr. Thai.

After a period of intensive treatment, with the tireless efforts of the medical team and the patient's perseverance, Ms. H. has fully recovered. The patient is conscious, hemodynamics are stable, organ functions have returned to normal, and there are no neurological sequelae.
