Most recently, the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF), 2025 (from June 29 to July 5)...
These festivals open up opportunities to develop the local economy , promote the tourism and cultural image of Da Nang city to a large number of visitors from near and far.
The first time coming to Da Nang, Martin's family (a tourist from New Zealand) joined the crowd enjoying the fireworks on the banks of the Han River. He shared: "When my friends introduced this event, I thought it would be like the fireworks events I had seen before in my country as well as in many other countries. But no, in Da Nang, everyone talked and discussed the performances happily as if there was no distance."
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Director of Hai Van Cat International Travel Company, said that the current trend of tourists , especially young people, often likes to travel and experience, explore local culture through events and festivals. Grasping this need, the city's tourism industry has been creating a brand through a series of major domestic and international festival events.
However, in addition to products that have built brands such as DIFF, DANAFF, in order to exploit well and attract visitors to traditional festivals such as Quan The Am Festival, Cau Ngu Festival, village festivals... the city needs to further enhance the scale of the festival; diversify activities so that visitors can participate and experience.
According to Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung, in recent years, Da Nang has successfully organized many major domestic and international events, creating a strong impression. Da Nang has also been honored twice by the World Tourism Organization as “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination”. This is an achievement but also an opportunity for the city’s culture and tourism to make a breakthrough.
Effectively exploiting the values of festivals and events will greatly contribute to the development of local tourism, diversifying tourism products, creating differences and competition for destinations in the current context - when the space of Da Nang city has just been expanded, the advantages of heritage and festival culture are also greater.
“Da Nang tourism is now likened to a sumptuous meal with many delicious dishes and outstanding resources from high-class beach resorts, forest, mountain and river ecology to the indigenous culture of Quang Nam, the heritages of Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary… The important thing is that the city's tourism industry must calculate and build a series of events, festivals and products of new destinations to attract more tourists to Da Nang,” Mr. Cao Tri Dung suggested.
