Discussing at the socio-economic conference hall on the afternoon of May 31, delegate Tran Thi Hoa Ri ( Bac Lieu ) said that voters were very excited before the National Assembly session. The Prime Minister approved the 8th power plan with the goal of strongly developing renewable energy.

However, delegate Hoa Ri pointed out the reality related to this field: “Recently, many shortcomings have been revealed, because the policy has always affirmed to encourage investment in renewable energy. In practice, investing in wind power and solar power requires businesses to invest at higher costs than in other fields, but the pricing for purchasing wind power and solar power is lower than that of coal power and oil-fired power,” delegate Hoa Ri said.

It is worth mentioning that when domestic wind and solar power have not been purchased at full capacity, EVN has imported electricity from neighboring countries, causing frustration among businesses investing in this field because it does not ensure legitimate investment rights.

“I do not understand why these shortcomings exist and I think that if they are not promptly resolved, they will be a bottleneck hindering the socio-economic development of the country. Therefore, I propose that the Government soon pay attention and direct all levels and sectors to find solutions to remove these difficulties for businesses, while also ensuring the goals in the 8th power planning to develop renewable energy sources to serve production and soon come into life,” delegate Tran Thi Hoa Ri suggested.

Responding to VTC News on the sidelines of the National Assembly, delegate Nguyen Quoc Han, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ca Mau province, said that the fact that many businesses invest in renewable energy development but are not connected or are only connected at a limited level is quite serious.

"Through working sessions, especially at the National Assembly, the delegation has made many recommendations regarding the issue of connecting and integrating solar and wind power systems," said delegate Han.

Meanwhile, wind and solar power sources in Ca Mau are quite large, but the demand for electricity in Ca Mau is not high because there are very few industrial parks and clusters.

“Therefore, I recommend that we should invest in industrial clusters, factories, and large enterprises in the area to free up local power sources, and transfer wind power to manufacturing plants to fully exploit local energy,” said delegate Han.

Delegate Nguyen Quoc Han raised the issue: “Our electricity resources are very large, while we have plans to import electricity. Why don’t we use local resources, domestic resources, create conditions to buy electricity from domestic enterprises when there is still a lot of room, instead of importing electricity from foreign countries?”

According to Mr. Han, a matter of public concern at present is that while EVN reports losses and increases electricity prices, negotiations on electricity prices with wind and solar power producers have not yet reached a conclusion.

“Because of problems, many solar and wind power projects are not connected to the grid. We have opportunities and surplus renewable energy, but there are businesses that have closed down and cannot connect to the grid. Who is responsible? Along with that, regarding the information that we have to import electricity long-term from China and Laos, why is that?” , Mr. Han asked.
