What parents expect when their children go to school

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên12/12/2024

In an interview with Thanh Nien reporters, each parent shared different joys and expectations for their children's journey to school.

Parent Vuong Hoang Binh, whose child is in the kindergarten class at Phuoc Long B Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, said: "My child is at preschool age, and the only thing I care about most is that he goes to school happily and healthily. Every morning when he goes to school, he doesn't whine or cry, he's happy when he sees his teacher and friends, when he comes home he's happy, healthy, self-disciplined, and learns many age-appropriate skills, so I feel secure."

Parents want their children to have a truly happy learning environment.

The parent of Bao Nguyen, a first grader at Dinh Tien Hoang Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, said that before her child entered primary school, what she cared most about in the school was not the scores. She was more concerned about the learning environment, learning culture, and the school's care and attention for her children. She said: "The day the school organized an Open House, inviting parents to study with their children, was also the first time I went into the classroom to see the teacher teaching math to the children. My impression was that the teacher worked so hard, she had to talk all the time, teaching from morning to afternoon. I don't put too much emphasis on my child's achievements and scores. If my child's learning results are not as expected, I will take the initiative to help my child instead of putting pressure on the teachers. Because my child's learning results depend on each child's level."

Many parents say that the most important thing about the school their children attend is not their grades but the learning environment, learning culture, and the school's care and attention for their children.

Mr. Pham Dai Anh Tu, parent of Pham Nguyen Hoai An, a kindergarten student at 19.5 City Kindergarten (HCMC), said: "My child's joy when going to school is playing with friends, studying, and participating in many activities at school. He looks forward to going to school every day. Even when he is sick, he says he hopes to get well soon so he can go to school to see his teachers and friends."

"Next year, my child will enter first grade, changing the learning environment. In primary school, children have to be more independent. Parents and teachers cannot always follow closely like in preschool, so I want my child to always be happy and confident. The definition of a happy school for me is a place where teachers are always positive, giving children positive thoughts and confidence. With these two factors, children can be strong," said Hoai An's parent.
