At 05:00 on August 5, Da Nang Newspaper recorded that pepper prices had leveled off after a sharp increase, currently fluctuating between 139,000 - 140,000 VND/kg. The market shows that this stability appears simultaneously in all provinces and cities. Specifically:
Gia Lai and Ho Chi Minh City are two areas that recorded stable prices at 139,000 VND/kg.
Similarly, pepper price in Dong Nai (former Binh Phuoc ) also remained at 139,000 VND/kg.
The price of coffee and pepper in Dak Lak is slightly higher, reaching 139,500 VND/kg, but there is no change.
Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) continues to lead with the highest price among the surveyed provinces, reaching 140,000 VND/kg, and also remaining the same as the previous day.

Domestic supply continues to be the main driver of high prices. Harvests in key regions have ended early, while new supplies are not yet sufficient to meet demand. Prolonged drought in some areas of the Central Highlands is also expected to affect yields in subsequent crops, reinforcing the long-term upward price trend.
Analysts say pepper prices are likely to remain high or increase slightly this week, possibly fluctuating between VND139,000 and VND141,000 per kilogram. In a positive scenario, prices could increase by VND1,000 to VND2,000 per kilogram in key areas such as Dak Lak and Dak Nong (now Lam Dong).
However, the market still faces risks from price recovery from competitors such as Brazil and Indonesia. In addition, obstacles in VAT refund policies can also create pressure to cause prices to stagnate.

US President Donald Trump’s 25% tariff on Indian spices is giving a big advantage to rivals in the ASEAN region, including Vietnam and Indonesia. Indian exporters fear losing market share in the US – their second-largest spice importer – to countries with lower tariffs.
According to experts, Vietnam and Indonesia, with tariff advantages, are likely to gain more market share in the US pepper market. This could boost demand and pepper prices in these two countries.
While Indian exporters expect the market to stabilize in a few months, in the short term, the shift of orders from India to ASEAN countries could create momentum for pepper exports from Vietnam and Indonesia. However, competition among these countries will also be fiercer.
