On August 4, Mr. Pham Van Nam - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province said that the Department is coordinating with relevant units to conduct field surveys and develop investment plans to build inter-level boarding schools in 7 border communes including: Ia Dom, Ia Nan, Ia Pnôn, Ia O, Ia Chia, Ia Mo and Ia Púch.
According to the survey, the above communes have 9,419 students, of which 54.65% are ethnic minorities. Many places have large school sizes such as Ia O commune (62 classes, 2,223 students), Ia Chia (53 classes, 1,552 students), Ia Dom (47 classes, 1,721 students)... However, the physical facilities are still limited, not meeting the needs of studying, eating, living and working for semi-boarding and boarding students.
According to the proposal, in 2025, the province will start building boarding schools for primary and secondary levels in the 7 communes mentioned above, with a total estimated cost of more than 1,211 billion VND. The projects are designed according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training , including full items serving teaching, learning, care and comprehensive training for students.
In addition to proposing a list of school facilities and equipment, the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training also guides localities to complete procedures for adjusting planning, allocating land funds, and handling public assets; at the same time, clarifying policies for students and teachers in border areas to ensure feasibility and sustainability for schools after their establishment.
Investing in building a system of inter-level boarding schools not only contributes to improving the quality of education in border areas but is also a practical solution to retain students in class, create a stable source of human resources, and contribute to protecting the country's borders through knowledge.
