Marching on foot, crossing a muddy road, littered with fallen trees for about 20 km from Pa Vat village, Muong Luan commune to Tia Mung village, Tia Dinh commune, Dien Bien province, officers and soldiers of Regiment 82 quickly consulted and assigned units to help people dig, level the soil and rocks that had flooded into their houses; clean up and transport belongings to a safe place.
While the officers and soldiers were busy with their work, we saw the bewildered face of a man about 60 years old, sitting and looking at his family's stilt house, which was being dismantled by officers and soldiers of Regiment 82. He was Giang So Nhia, residing in Tia Mung village, Tia Dinh commune.
Mr. Giang So Nhia recounted: That night, I was sleeping when I heard a loud noise in the house. At that time, all I could do was shout for my wife and children to wake up and run to the hill in front of the house to ensure safety. While my wife and children had not yet asked what happened, the earth and rocks from the high mountain suddenly collapsed, the base of the house's pillars collapsed, causing the house to tilt, mud flooded in and buried many household items. My family had 2 buffaloes locked at the foot of the hill and many valuable items were also swept away by the flood.
Mr. Giang So Nhia said: “Luckily, thanks to the soldiers arriving in time to help dismantle and transport the materials, my family was very touched. If the soldiers of Regiment 82 had not come to the village to help, we would not know how to survive in the coming days.”

At the family of Mrs. Lo Thi Sinh (Suoi Lu 1 village, Na Son commune), 12 soldiers of Regiment 82 supported and helped her family transport about 2m thick layer of mud and soil that flooded into the house and repaired the collapsed roof.
With nimble hands, some shoveled soil, others moved the cart, the soldiers' sweat poured down their mud-stained faces. Private Giang A Minh, a soldier of Platoon 2 (Company 5, Battalion 2, Regiment 82) said: "The amount of mud and soil is quite large, but we always encourage each other regardless of day or night to always try every hour, every minute to help people soon have a house to live in, to stabilize their lives after the flood."
Ms. Lo Thi Sinh has a difficult family situation. Last year, her husband unfortunately passed away and her children have started families far away. Currently, she lives alone in a house of about 40 square meters . When the floodwaters receded, the entire house Ms. Sinh was living in was submerged in mud and all her belongings were damaged.
According to Major Dinh Van Tuan, Deputy Commander of Regiment 82, this time the Regiment mobilized nearly 100 officers and soldiers who were in good health, experienced and well-trained in situations of natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, and mobilized to localities to help people overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

During the days of carrying out tasks in flood-affected areas, despite the large amount of soil, rocks, and trees falling into people's houses, in hot, stuffy weather conditions, officers and soldiers of Regiment 82 always promoted the spirit of solidarity, effort, and considered the people's work as their own family's work.
