The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has approved additional benchmark scores for public high schools in the second round, including 8 schools lowering their benchmark scores. In addition, there are 2 schools recruiting "overwhelming wishes" with 166 quotas.

Specifically, there are 8 schools that have lowered their admission scores, of which most of the schools are in the lower and middle ranks, with admission scores ranging from 12 to 18.25 points.

Notably, Yen Hoa High School recruited additional students with a score of 24.5, 0.5 points lower than the previous standard score. Previously, this school recruited students with 25 points, the second highest in the city, after Le Quy Don High School (Ha Dong) and Kim Lien High School.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, when lowering the admission score, the school is allowed to accept students with the first, second, and third wishes who meet the additional admission requirements.

Students who pass the second additional admission must have an admission score at least 1.0 point higher than the school's additional admission standard score.

Students who pass the additional admission wish 3 must have an admission score at least 2.0 points higher than the school's additional admission standard score.

Admission application period is from 8:00 a.m. on July 19 to July 22. Admission for students admitted based on additional benchmark scores is carried out directly at high schools (during office hours).

2 schools recruiting citywide

In addition, Minh Quang High School is also allowed to recruit additional students throughout the city for students who are eligible for admission but are not admitted to their registered wishes and have an admission score of 12.0 points or higher. Currently, this school is short of 63 students.

Phuc Loi High School is recruiting additional students from the entire city who are eligible for admission but did not pass their registered wishes and have an admission score of 16.50 points or higher. Currently, this school is short of 103 students.

In recent days, candidates and parents have been eagerly waiting for additional benchmark scores, especially those who failed their first choice by a meager 0.25 points.

Many students are wondering, in the first round of announcing exam scores and admission scores, candidates who did not pass their first choice were admitted to their second choice. If in the second round of additional admission, the school lowers the admission score and the admitted candidate is admitted, will they be able to withdraw their application to enroll in the school they had placed their first choice in?

According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, students who have enrolled in their second choice still have the right to enroll in the school they have enrolled in their first choice when they meet the admission requirements in this additional admission round.

Students are instructed to go to the high school they have enrolled in to withdraw their application and cancel their admission confirmation to go to the school of their first choice to complete the admission procedures. Candidates should note that for additional admissions in this admission round, the school only accepts direct admission applications.

Previously, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned the enrollment quota for grade 10 high school in the 2025-2026 school year to 122 public and autonomous public schools with a total of nearly 80,000 students.

Specifically, 119 public high schools were assigned to enroll nearly 78,500 students; of which 4 specialized high schools were assigned to enroll more than 2,700 students, 115 public schools enrolled nearly 75,000 students; 3 autonomous public high schools enrolled nearly 1,400 students.

Previously, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this school year, there will be 127,000 students taking the junior high school graduation exam and nearly 103,000 candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam. Public high schools plan to enroll about 64% of students in 10th grade, an increase of 3% compared to last year (equivalent to about 5,000 students).
