Hanoi is hot at nearly 40 degrees Celsius, electricity consumption is at an unprecedented high

(Dan Tri) - The peak heat caused electricity consumption in Hanoi to continue to set a record of nearly 6,000 MW at 1:20 p.m. on August 4.

Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVN Hanoi) said that the city's electricity consumption reached its highest level ever, reaching 5,988MW at 1:20 p.m. on August 4.

In just the first four days of August, electricity consumption increased by 1,300MW (equivalent to 27%), showing that the demand for electricity shows no signs of cooling down.

Electricity consumption is increasing as Hanoi is experiencing a prolonged heat wave, with outdoor temperatures constantly fluctuating between 37-39 degrees Celsius, causing the demand for household electricity to show no signs of cooling down.

Faced with that situation, the electricity authority recommends that people proactively monitor their family's daily electricity consumption through the unit's applications or website.

Accordingly, people can check meter readings, compare consumption between periods and especially set warning thresholds to receive timely information when electricity output exceeds the allowed threshold.

"This is an effective solution for people to adjust their electricity usage behavior from the beginning, instead of waiting until the end of the month to be "shocked" by the electricity bill," EVN Hanoi stated.

The electricity authority also recommends that people use electricity economically and efficiently, turn off unnecessary electrical appliances and limit the use of high-power appliances during peak hours. At the same time, pay attention to using air conditioners reasonably, set at 26 degrees Celsius or higher, use in combination with fans...

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from the evening of August 4 to 7, the mountainous and midland areas of the North may experience widespread heavy rain. The heat in the North will gradually ease from August 5, while the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang , Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa will continue to be hot for many days to come. The Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers in the evening, and some places will be hot during the day.
