Hanoi becomes a tourist "hot spot" on September 2nd

Although it is still the peak summer tourist season, the number of customers booking tours for the September 2nd holiday through major travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City has been very active. Notably, tours to Hanoi to watch the parade and march at the 80th National Day Celebration are attracting great interest, especially from overseas Vietnamese tourists.

The attraction of "national concert"

According to records from major travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City, such as: Saigontourist , BenThanh Tourist, Viet Travel, Vietluxtour,.. the tourism market on the occasion of September 2nd holiday is bustling, although it is still the peak summer tourism season of 2025.

One of the distinct highlights of this year’s September 2nd holiday tourism is the large-scale military parade and march at the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day in Hanoi . This is a key factor that helps tours to the capital and neighboring provinces become “hotter” than ever.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Travel Service Company Limited, shared that the attraction from the parade and marching events has forced the company to change and expand its plan to receive customers booking tours on this occasion twice. Notably, the number of overseas Vietnamese returning to the country and registering for tours to the capital and the northern provinces on this occasion has increased dramatically.

“The highlight of this year’s September 2nd holiday tourism is the program combined with the A80 Parade in Hanoi. This program has received a lot of support from tourists. What is different from previous years is that 80% of the registered tourists are overseas Vietnamese. They come from Australia, Germany and the US. As soon as we received the information, they registered to go with their families. Therefore, we attracted many more customers. This is also a tour that we had to open an additional plan to receive customers twice,” said Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra.

Variety of choices

The 4-day National Day holiday on September 2nd is considered to create favorable conditions for tourists to experience and choose both short tours (1-3 days) and medium tours (4-6 days), suitable for domestic and international tourism and relaxation.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh, Marketing and Information Technology Director of BenThanh Tourist Company, said that although the company is currently in the peak of summer tourism, it still launches more than 30 domestic and international tourism programs and products with attractive prices.

In particular, BenThanh Tourist focuses on exploiting 2 special products with the theme "National Concert in Harmony", including the Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Trang An route and the Hanoi - Ha Long route.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh added: “Both itineraries are 4 days in duration, including 2 nights in Hanoi, combined with a free day so that visitors can immerse themselves in the autumn atmosphere of Hanoi and watch the parade. Currently, purchasing power has not exploded but is still increasing steadily and is expected to be more exciting from mid-August when the September 2nd holiday is approaching.”

Airline tickets, hotels increase in price and "rooms are full"

The "heat" of tours to Hanoi also leads to difficulties in air tickets and hotel rooms.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh recommends that independent travelers should book hotel services and airline tickets as early as possible to avoid "no rooms available" and high prices on days close to the holidays.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Pham Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of Viet Tourism Media Joint Stock Company, pointed out two main trends in choosing tours during this time.

These are groups of tourists who want to directly participate in major activities in the capital and the neighboring northern mountainous areas with cool air; and groups of tourists who seek relaxation and avoid crowds at beach destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang or Thanh Hoa.

Notably, the number of overseas Vietnamese returning home and registering for tours to the capital and northern provinces during this time has increased dramatically.

Although the holiday is still about a month away, according to Mr. Vu, booking hotel rooms and air tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route on September 2 is difficult.

“At Viet Tourism, the situation of booking tours for the September 2nd holiday is quite active. Especially short-term domestic tours and some international routes. Booking hotel rooms and air tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route on September 2nd is difficult, prices have increased 2-3 times compared to normal days. The demand for traveling to Hanoi to watch the parade is very high, causing many hotels to be fully booked early. Therefore, in my opinion, tourists need to plan and book services as soon as possible,” said Mr. Vu.

In addition to positive signals from the domestic market, travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City also said that the unstable situation at the Thai and Cambodian borders has affected tourists' psychology, causing some customers to request to postpone or cancel tours to these countries.

Instead, international destinations such as Singapore, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan attract tourists thanks to convenient entry procedures and reasonable prices.
