Hamas wants to exchange 70 hostages for 5-day ceasefire

"Last week, Qatar attempted to negotiate the release of 75 people being held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 200 Palestinian children," said Abu Ubaida, a spokesman for Hamas's al-Qassam armed wing.

“The ceasefire agreement should include a complete ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid and relief to reach all parts of the Gaza Strip,” he added.

Hamas also accused Israel of "delaying and evading" reaching this agreement, and "accused" Israel of disregarding the lives of the hostages by indiscriminate airstrikes.

Israel has repeatedly said that a ceasefire now would give Hamas time to rest and regroup.
