The 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To was awarded a certificate of merit.

(Dan Tri) - The certificate of merit recognizes Mr. Ly Xuong Can's outstanding contributions in promoting tourism and promoting cultural and economic exchanges between Vietnam and Korea in the period 2017-2024.

On July 25, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Deputy Minister Ho An Phong presented the Minister's Certificate of Merit to Mr. Ly Xuong Can - Vietnam Tourism Ambassador in Korea - in recognition of his outstanding contributions in promoting tourism and promoting the image of Vietnam in Korea.

Mr. Ly Xuong Can - the 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To - has taken on the role of Tourism Ambassador since 2017.

For nearly a decade, he has initiated many effective connection activities between the two countries such as organizing tourism roadshows, famtrips, television promotions, digital media cooperation, supporting localities to promote tourism products, and connecting Vietnamese and Korean businesses.

He also proposed establishing a Vietnamese Cultural Center in Korea and implementing the film project "Legend of the Forgotten Prince" to spread Vietnamese culture to the international community.

In the 2024-2029 period, he will continue to serve as Tourism Ambassador, committed to promoting the application of technology in tourism promotion and expanding strategic cooperation with large organizations and enterprises in Korea.

Mr. Ly Xuong Can, whose Korean name is Lee Chang Kun, was born in 1958 in Seoul (Korea). He is the 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To and the 26th generation descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong.

Since 1992, Mr. Ly Xuong Can, representing the Ly Hoa Son lineage, returned to Vietnam to find his ancestral homeland in Dinh Bang, Tu Son, Bac Ninh to mobilize and contribute to the restoration of Do Temple worshiping the eight Ly kings, and at the same time began to connect cooperation and investment between Vietnam and Korea.

In 2007, Mr. Ly Xuong Can wished to return to Vietnam and obtain Vietnamese citizenship for himself and his family. With the support of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on October 16, 2009, the President issued a decision approving the naturalization of Mr. Ly Xuong Can and his family.
