A week after Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held the draw ceremony and scheduled the 2025-2026 national football championship, Quang Nam Club planned to dissolve.
The 2017 V-League champion will be merged into Da Nang Club after the two localities merged.
Meanwhile, according to the draft regulations, the 2025-2026 season will begin with the national super cup on August 9, and V-League 1 will kick off on August 15.
If Quang Nam Club dissolves 25 days before the tournament, the organizing committee will have to change the draft tournament regulations and find a suitable competition organization plan.
Previously, according to the draft, the 2025-2026 V-League season had 14 competing teams and 2 relegation spots. If Quang Nam Club does not participate, the organizing committee will have to recalculate the number of promoted and relegated teams as before.
Specifically, in the 2023-2024 season, Binh Thuan Club withdrew from the national first division just 11 days before the ball rolled. The Vietnam Football Federation decided that the 2023-2024 first division has only 1 relegation spot.
At that time, the first division had 11 teams, competing in a format of 5 pairs/round, with one team taking turns resting.
According to the draw schedule for the 2025-2026 V-League, round 1 will take place on August 15, with Quang Nam Club hosting Song Lam Nghe An.

The fact that Quang Nam Club will almost certainly leave the 2025-2026 V-League is posing a difficult problem for Vietnamese football right before the season starts.
Besides the critical situation of Quang Nam Club in V-League, a series of teams in the national First Division, including Khanh Hoa Club, are also facing the risk of not participating in the 2025-2026 season.
