On October 10, Nam Tu Liem District Police, Hanoi City, announced that the Investigation Police Agency had prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Trong Hieu (31 years old, in Bac Ninh province) for the crime of Fraudulent appropriation of property.
According to authorities, Hieu did not have a stable job. When he learned of the need of residents in the Times City urban area to rent or buy parking spaces in the underground parking lot, Hieu came up with the idea of fraud.
Hieu joined groups on social platforms of Times City urban area, posting information about parking spaces for rent or resale. After Hieu posted, some people contacted him.

Hieu asked these people to send information about the car and transfer a deposit to complete the registration procedure. After receiving the deposit, Hieu appropriated it for personal use.
In addition, when he obtained information and images of many cars, including a Vinfast VF8 with a Hung Yen license plate, Hieu used a Facebook account named "Hieu Hoa Hong" to post an advertisement to sell this car on the " Vinfast VF8 -VF8 Vietnam" group to appropriate the buyer's deposit.
Authorities determined that with this trick, Hieu appropriated money from at least 7 victims.
Nam Tu Liem District Police announced that anyone who is a victim of Hieu should contact the General Investigation Team to provide information, at Lane 25, Nguyen Co Thach Street, My Dinh 2 Ward, Nam Tu Liem District.
