The open letter asking to "exchange flowers for gifts" from the principal of an elementary school in Ho Chi Minh City surprised many people, making them believe more in good things.
Accordingly, in an open letter, the Principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Le Hong Thai, refused to accept flowers on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, and hoped that parents would send other gifts: "Every year, on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, the school receives many congratulatory flower baskets. However, these flowers are only used for a few days and then thrown away, which is a waste. This year, the economic situation is difficult, the school respectfully hopes that donors, businesses and organizations, instead of giving flowers, would change the form by giving notebooks, milk and sports equipment so that the school can reward the students."
In addition, the Principal also mentioned that this November, the main activities of the school will be those aimed at helping students develop comprehensively in terms of intelligence, physical strength and aesthetics such as: illustrated book storytelling contest and Phan Van Tri Challenge 2024. Therefore, the school also hopes to receive support from donors and businesses with practical gifts and direct support for students. Any contribution, big or small, is a source of motivation for the school and students.
Many parents and students in Ho Chi Minh City expressed their emotions when reading the letter. After 2 days of launching, the school received 200 cards from sponsors.
The school principal also hopes that this gift will help motivate students to study well and move towards a bright future.
