Coach Shin Tae-yong "sends signal" to Chinese Football Association
On June 16, the Korean newspaper Chosun Biz quoted the representative of coach Shin Tae-yong, confirming that the 54-year-old coach has not officially accepted to lead the Chinese team as recently reported.

"Completely contrary to media reports in Indonesia, we have not received any offer or contract from the Chinese Football Association (CFA) so far," said coach Shin Tae-yong's representative.
The representative also added: "Coach Shin Tae-yong is currently very busy with a number of different activities, including the position of Vice President of the Korea Football Association (KFA) and the role of General Director at Seongnam FC."
Regarding the position of KFA Vice President, Mr. Shin Tae-yong is currently working with former Vietnam national team coach, Mr. Park Hang-seo, who is also holding a similar position at the Korean football agency.
Although he denied accepting the offer to coach the Chinese team, coach Shin Tae-yong's representative also expressed: "If we accept an official invitation from the CFA, the two sides can negotiate without any obstacles. But so far, in fact, we have not received any offer from the Chinese football agency."
Previously, after the CFA fired coach Branko Ivankovic due to the poor performance of the Chinese team in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, the Chinese press also mentioned coach Shin Tae-yong as the most promising candidate that the football agency is aiming to replace him.
According to CNN Indonesia , besides coach Shin Tae-yong, CFA is also considering other replacement candidates such as China U.21 team coach Zheng Zhi or Mr. Gao Hongbo, former coach of the Chinese national team in 2016.
