ASEAN Fair and Friends in the United States

The fair helps introduce and promote the unique cultures of ASEAN countries and their friends to the American public.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung and his wife Tran Thi Bich Van took a souvenir photo with attendees.

On November 16, the ASEAN Ladies' Association (ASC) hosted and coordinated with the Asia-US Chamber of Commerce and the Simon Group to organize the ASEAN and Friends Fair at the Pentagon City Mall, Virginia.

Attending the fair were Heads of Representative Offices and spouses of Embassies of ASEAN countries and Kazakhstan in the United States, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, socio -political organizations, businesses, press and local friends.

This is the first time the Fair is held in a public place with 10 booths from ASEAN countries and Kazakhstan.

Chairwoman of the ASEAN Wives Association, wife of the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Van delivered the opening speech at the Fair.

Speaking at the opening of the Fair, ASC President, wife of the Vietnamese Ambassador, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Van affirmed that the Fair helps introduce and promote the unique culture of ASEAN countries and friends to the American public.

Madam Tran Thi Bich Van emphasized that traditional music and dance performances, along with handicraft masterpieces from Southeast Asia and Central Asia, reflect the rich cultural heritage of the participating countries.

Ms. Tran Thi Bich Van invited guests and the public present at the fair to visit ASEAN countries and friendly countries to witness the beautiful landscapes, long-standing cultural traditions and the hospitality of the people.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States' Wives and Husbands Association contributed three performances to the opening of the fair, the most outstanding of which was the Bac Ninh Quan Ho singing performance "Beo Dat May Troi", contributing to promoting the intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2009.

The audience was very impressed with the gentle voices of the Vietnamese ladies and the deep rhythm of the Quan Ho songs. The lively ensemble performances and graceful ballet dances by the children of the Embassy staff also received enthusiastic responses from the visitors.

The booth of the Vietnamese Embassy's Association of Wives and Husbands attracted many local visitors with its rich handicraft products, ao dai collection made from many materials and products typical of Vietnamese culture such as conical hats, cyclos, silk fans, etc.

The ASEAN and Friends Fair has ended with many positive echoes from the public. This unique cultural activity has contributed positively to the series of cultural diplomacy activities of the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States in 2024.
