Workshop to summarize the research and survey tasks, evaluate the current status of the startup and innovation ecosystem

On December 21, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in collaboration with the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances of Ho Chi Minh City organized a workshop to summarize the tasks of research, survey, and assessment of the current status of the startup and innovation ecosystem, develop an action plan to promote the provincial ecosystem, and build a spatial model to support provincial innovation.

At the workshop, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances introduced general information about the project, objectives, contents and results of the project implementation. With the general objective of building a space model to support science and innovation in the province, the Center has set out 5 specific objectives and 5 main contents of the task to study and evaluate the current status of the science and innovation ecosystem and build a space model to support science and innovation. After one year of implementing the project research, the results of the science and innovation ecosystem in our province are at level 1 - a newly formed ecosystem. Although activities to support science and innovation have been established through a number of departments and branches, the activities are still fragmented, without a focal unit to coordinate and attract resources and gather members in the community. Based on the research results, to put them into practice, the research team proposed recommendations such as: Organizing extensive communication and reporting in the political system and community on the province's science and technology and innovation policies; developing and implementing detailed programs to support and promote the components of the development ecosystem; approving the project to establish the provincial Science, Technology and Innovation Center and investing resources to operate the Center; organizing the implementation of a spatial model to support science and technology and innovation at the Center for Information on Application of Science and Technology Advances.

Also at the workshop, delegates shared the situation of managing science and technology and innovation work and proposed and commented on the content of the topic to ensure it is suitable for the operating model and fully implements new functions and tasks. At the same time, they hoped that the topic would soon be implemented to develop the science and technology and innovation ecosystem in the locality, creating many new and highly effective business models that actively contribute to the socio -economic development of the province.
