According to the producer's representative, through online and live casting rounds, the project Lat mat 8 attracted more than 5,000 contestants, nearly double the previous record of part 7.
Two live casting sessions for the project Lat mat 8 were held on October 13 and 14. Besides director and producer Ly Hai and Minh Ha, the event also had the participation of actors Tiet Cuong, Trung Dung, director Quoc Thuan and actress Ngoc Tuong.
The atmosphere at the casting location was extremely bustling with the participation of many candidates, from professional to amateur actors from all over the country. In particular, the casting session also gathered faces that have made waves on social networks.
Faced with the unexpected enthusiastic support, director Ly Hai decided to extend the casting time compared to the original plan. Starting on the morning of October 13, the process lasted for 20 hours and ended at 1:30 am on October 14.
However, there were still many contestants who stayed until the last minute, hoping to have the opportunity to show their passion and energy. Many contestants had to wait from 5-7 hours for their turn to be cast.
"Ly Hai believes that anyone who is passionate, determined and serious about their career has the opportunity to become a movie actor," director Ly Hai shared.
He also said that this was the first time in the Lat mat franchise that the crew had such a long casting time. Despite the large number of people, the casting process was still very thorough. It was the creativity and unexpected improvisation of the participants that inspired the entire crew, making everyone feel full of energy.
According to producer Minh Ha, all the candidates who passed the online casting have their own unique characteristics. Cinema not only requires professionalism but also requires simplicity in acting as if not acting.
“In order to develop further, any actor, even professional ones, when working in the entertainment industry must constantly learn. And these casting sessions are not only for contestants to express themselves but also open up an opportunity for all of you who have talent but have not yet shined,” emphasized producer Minh Ha.
Previously, from September 27 to October 7, an online casting round took place on social media platforms. The hashtag #LatMat8 also created a fever when it attracted 315 million views.
After the casting, Lat mat 8 is expected to start filming in December and is expected to be released in theaters on the occasion of April 30, 2025.
