Kinh Bac soul in contemporary music

Nearly 2 months after the performance 'Ve Kinh Bac' in Hanoi and the introduction of the Thien Thanh group of young artists who love traditional music, on the evening of June 22, musician - producer Ngo Hong Quang released the album 'Ve Kinh Bac' consisting of 11 songs combining traditional music with new contemporary elements.

11 songs in diverse genres, including 7 Bac Ninh folk songs ( Cay truc xinh, Lung lieng, Xe chi thong kim, Trong com... ), 2 Xam songs ( Muc ha vo nhan, Quyet chi tu than ) and 2 songs composed by Ngo Hong Quang inspired by the ancient Kinh Bac region ( Tray hoi, Thuong xuan ).

The songs are mostly performed in the form of an ensemble with instruments such as the pipa, moon lute, flute, drum, erhu, zither, thirty-six-string zither, monochord... from the Thien Thanh group. Ngo Hong Quang also performs vocals in Con duyen, Ngoi yeu man thuyen ... and collaborates with guests such as beatboxer Trung Bao in Muc ha vo nhan, American cellist Bryan Charles Wilson in Beo dat may troi .

In this album, the common spirit in the arrangements is how to blend and transform the tones and melodies of the Northern region in a creative and spontaneous space. With Ve Kinh Bac , Ngo Hong Quang continues to show his depth in traditional music , contributing to bringing these melodies closer to contemporary audiences and international friends.
