Joint patrol between Vietnam and China Coast Guard ends

On the morning of November 29, the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation docked at the port of Squadron 11 (Dinh Vu - Hai Phong ), successfully concluding the second joint patrol with the Chinese Coast Guard in 2024.

The delegation of the Coast Guards of Vietnam and China took a souvenir photo on the CSB 8004 ship of the Vietnam Coast Guard.

Previously, for 3 days (from November 26 to 28), a joint patrol between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the China Coast Guard took place in the waters near the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin. The Vietnam Coast Guard used fleets 8004 and 8003 (Flotilla 11) led by Colonel Luong Cao Khai, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 1. The delegation also included representatives of the Border Guard, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the northern coastal provinces and cities, and the Hai Phong Customs Department. The scope of this joint patrol spanned 13 points with a distance of 255 nautical miles, from 13 nautical miles east of Tran Island to 50 nautical miles northeast of Con Co Island.

During the implementation of the mission, the Coast Guard forces of the two countries carried out the following contents: Meeting to discuss and agree on patrol plans; exchanging professional law enforcement at sea; conducting inspections and monitoring of fishing boats of the two countries exploiting aquatic products in the waters adjacent to the demarcation line; propagating and educating fishermen of the two countries to comply with the law when operating at sea; exchanging results by phone, concluding the patrol. With a high sense of responsibility from both sides, the joint patrol was a great success, contributing to building a peaceful , stable sea area that respects the law.

Colonel Luong Cao Khai, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 1, said: During the patrol, the weather at sea was complicated, with big waves and strong winds, but the two sides maintained the correct distance, kept the correct formation, increased observation of the situation, promptly exchanged necessary information, and handled arising situations according to the agreed content of the meeting. The success of this joint patrol once again affirmed the friendly relationship and solidarity between the two forces, as well as the premise for future cooperation activities such as the 8th Vietnam - China Coast Guard Working Conference in Vietnam; The exchange program "Vietnam Coast Guard and Friends for the 2nd time in 2024".

During the patrol, the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation released 20,000 sea bass, mullet and crab fry. This activity aims to regenerate aquatic resources; maintain and develop the diversity of biological resources and aquatic resources in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam.

In particular, in the Southeast area of Bach Long Vi Island, the Working Group also solemnly held a memorial service for the martyrs of the CASA-212 flight crew number 8983 who died on June 16, 2016 while on duty and the fishermen who died in this sea area.

This is the 9th patrol activity in the waters adjacent to the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the China Coast Guard organized after the Fisheries Cooperation Agreement between the two countries expired on June 30, 2020. The success of this working trip will continue to create momentum to promote the relationship between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Vietnam and China in general, and the Coast Guard forces of the two countries in particular, to continue to develop better and better.
