Journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association delivered the opening speech of the course.

On the morning of June 5, the Center for Journalism Training - Vietnam Journalists Association organized an online training course with the topic "Application of artificial intelligence (AI) for journalists."

The first course was attended by more than 300 reporters and editors working at press agencies across the country. The course is part of the Vietnam Journalists Association's program to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), while also contributing to promoting the application of new technology in journalism activities.

In his opening speech, journalist Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association - emphasized the importance of proactively grasping and effectively using artificial intelligence in modern journalism for newsrooms and individual journalists. Therefore, to use AI, it is necessary to have a systematic and professional training program.

“With the AI wave sweeping through all areas of social life, every newsroom and every reporter must proactively update their modern journalism skills, instead of passively waiting for the ‘water to reach their feet before jumping.’ Journalists must even be pioneers in experimenting with new things. Only then can we serve readers and audiences effectively,” said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.

The Vietnam Journalists Association also pledges to accompany and support press agencies through training programs like this.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh hopes that after the training course, a community will be created where journalists can meet, exchange and share knowledge about modern journalism and the Journalists Association's courses will be spread among press agencies so that more people can enjoy them.

During the 2-day course (June 5-6), students listened to speakers present and discuss topics such as: overview of AI and generative models; basic and advanced scripting skills for journalists; how to use AI in international newsrooms; data visualization with AI; multimedia content processing; information verification: steps for fact checking, using AI for verification...

According to the plan from now until the end of 2025, the Center for Journalism Training will continue to organize courses on this topic to create conditions for all members of the Vietnam Journalists Association to have the opportunity to access, learn and effectively apply AI in their work./.
