Tay Thien Festival is held from the 15th to the 17th of the second lunar month every year to commemorate and pay tribute to the great merit of the Queen Mother Lang Thi Tieu, the Queen Consort of the 7th Hung Chieu King - who had great merit in helping King Hung expand the territory, teach people to grow wet rice, recruit soldiers, and consolidate the dynasty. The festival is held with the following ceremonies: the announcement ceremony, the palanquin procession, the opening ceremony, the incense offering ceremony, and the thanksgiving ceremony.

This year's festival took place with many rich activities such as: Hat Van Festival, Chau Van singing associated with the practice of worshipping the Mother Goddess of Tay Thien; Cultural and artistic performances, performances, reenactment of some customs and practices of the San Diu ethnic group and Soong Co folk song performances; Trade - Tourism Fair displaying OCOP products and typical cuisine of ethnic groups in the province...

In addition, the festival will feature many sports activities such as: National Traditional Wrestling Tournament; Tay Thien Cup National Golf Tournament; Volleyball, Tug of War, and Chinese Chess tournaments of communes and towns in Tam Dao district...

Being held on the weekend, this year's Tay Thien Festival attracted a large number of tourists to come for pilgrimage and worship. To ensure security and order, the Festival Organizing Committee coordinated with the police force to establish a working group, organize patrol forces, prevent and eradicate social evils; prevent acts of fraud, disturbance, superstition; prevent fires and explosions at relics and festival areas. At the same time, the Festival Organizing Committee stepped up propaganda and reminded to raise awareness among small traders in the scenic area, not to solicit or overcharge tourists.

Tay Thien is an ancient architectural complex with pagodas, temples, shrines, stone steles... bearing the mark of history and culture. The great scenic spot Tay Thien with its high mountains, deep forests, charming streams and waterfalls is also a large and earliest Buddhist center in Vietnam. In 2015, Tay Thien Historical Relic and Scenic Spot was recognized as a Special National Monument. In 2020, the worship of Mother Goddess Tay Thien was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
