The new air traffic control center with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND will provide monitoring services for civil and military flights... replacing the existing, degraded facility.
The new project, invested by the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), started construction on February 15 and is expected to be completed in May 2025. The air traffic control center is responsible for guiding aircraft to avoid collisions or obstacles in the operating area; ensuring the efficiency of flight operations.

The new center includes a main administration building with an area of 2,360 m2 in Tan Binh district, an electrical engineering station, two antenna towers, technical infrastructure, specialized equipment, and auxiliary works.
The project was implemented under an emergency order to replace the existing Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center which had deteriorated. The new facility will provide services such as: air traffic control; monitoring of civil and military flight activities; aviation information and communications... in the entire Ho Chi Minh City Flight Information Region.
In particular, the new center also provides access control services for Long Thanh airport when phase one is operational at the end of 2025 and the existing Tan Son Nhat.
According to the investor, the new Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center has a system of advanced and modern equipment, in line with the process of technological innovation. When completed, the project will help improve flight operations capacity, ensure safety, service quality as well as meet the development needs of domestic and regional flight operations. In addition to economic benefits, the project also plays an important role in politics and national security.
