Prosecution and temporary detention of driver who recklessly overtakes, causing 3 deaths in 1 family

Buon Ma Thuot City Police, Dak Lak Province, has initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained the pickup truck driver who recklessly overturned, causing the tragic accident.

On the afternoon of August 2, a leader of Buon Ma Thuot City Police said that they had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained the pickup truck driver involved in the accident that killed 3 people that morning.

The driver of the pickup truck in the accident was Tran Doan Tung (49 years old, residing in Krong Pak district).

According to a dashcam footage recorded by a resident's car, at the time of the accident, driver Tung was overtaking a car in front and crashed straight into a motorbike driven by Ms. Quach Thi L. (36 years old, residing in Ea Dar commune, Ea Kar district) carrying her husband and son behind.

As a result, all three victims on the motorbike were thrown onto the roadside and died on the spot. Authorities initially determined that the cause of the accident was due to the pickup truck overtaking the other vehicle without ensuring safety.

As reported by SGGP Newspaper, at around 6:53 a.m. on August 2, Ms. Quach Thi L. was driving a motorbike carrying her husband and son on National Highway 26 from Buon Ma Thuot City to Krong Pak District.

While traveling to village 12, Ea Tu commune (Buon Ma Thuot city), she was suddenly hit head-on by a pickup truck driven by driver Tung in the opposite direction. The accident caused the tragic death of Ms. L's entire family, the motorbike was deformed, and the front of the car was damaged.

The case is being further investigated and clarified.
