The national costume named Pho nho nhung weighs about 20kg, designed by designer Nguyen Duc Luong especially for Ky Duyen.
Introducing national identity through cuisine
The design is inspired by Pho - a dish that carries the national spirit. Through this outfit, designer Nguyen Duc Luong wishes to tell the journey of rich, sophisticated and flavorful Vietnamese cuisine.
Each dish of Hu Tieu, Bun Bo or Pho is like a slice of culture that shows the characteristics of the homeland regions. In which, Pho is not only a famous dish loved by international friends, but also shows the culture of Vietnamese cuisine.
Nguyen Duc Luong shared with Tuoi Tre Online that it took him and his team two months from coming up with the design idea to completing the product.
The design takes the shape of a colorful pho bowl. The designer laser-cuts, beaded, and attached stones to the suit to enhance the wearer's figure.
Nguyen Duc Luong also drew the shapes of the “toppings” in the pho bowl. In particular, the fried breadsticks were printed and sewn on. The highlight of the design is the headband shaped like a bowl of dipping sauce, expressing youthful energy.
This costume was performed in the national costume competition within the framework of the Miss Supranational 2025 contest . “With Pho Nho Nhung , Duyen wants to spread national identity in the most intimate way through taste, memory and pride” - Miss Ky Duyen shared.

Cuisine is an endless source of inspiration in designing national costumes.
Previously, pho has also been the inspiration for many designers to create national costumes. Specifically, the national costume contest for Hoang Thuy to compete in Miss Universe 2019 had many ideas inspired by Vietnamese cuisine. Among them, pho was the most chosen dish.
However, Hoang Thuy chose the Phin Coffee outfit to compete. This design was inspired by a Vietnamese specialty that is loved by international friends: coffee.

Miss H'Hen Niê once wore a national costume inspired by bread to Miss Universe 2018 , which was considered impressive.
Coming to Miss Universe 2021 , Kim Duyen attracted attention with her national costume inspired by banh tet. The costume has two main colors, blue and purple, showing the Vietnamese custom of cooking banh tet on holidays and Tet, expressing the national spirit.
With domestic beauty contests, dishes such as vermicelli soup, pancakes, mixed rice paper, spring rolls, banh chung, fish sauce, etc. are also inspired to design national costumes.

Vo Cao Ky Duyen, born in 2005, in Hai Phong , 1.75m tall, three-round measurements 84-60-97 (cm). She is currently a student at Vietnam Maritime University.
She was crowned Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024. Ky Duyen has 9 months to practice and hone the necessary skills to prepare for her first journey to conquer an international beauty contest - Miss Supranational 2025 .
The final night of Miss Supranational 2025 will take place on the evening of June 27, in Poland (local time).
