Spreading training of human resources for microchip design

Recently, many provinces and cities such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong ... have implemented microchip human resource training programs and gradually formed microchip design centers. This spread comes from the microchip training program at Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP).

The event that created a ripple effect in IC design training was in September 2023, when SHTP launched the Electronics and Semiconductor Center (ESC) - the first international standard training center in Vietnam, located at SHTP Training Center.

“ESC is considered to be the place that provides the most systematic training program today according to IPC (International Process Control) standards, widely applied by world technology corporations, the training program is directly taught by Vietnamese experts who have worked for many years at large electronics corporations in Silicon Valley (USA). Training is focused when SHTP Training Center cooperates with many world microchip corporations such as Mediatek, Synopsys, Sun Electronics... to improve the quality of training and microchip design", Mr. Nguyen Duc Huy, Director of SHTP Training Center, shared.

Based on the model and capacity of ESC, many provinces and cities have announced microchip design training programs. In early January 2024, Thu Dau Mot University (Binh Duong) and Sun Edu (ESC member) opened an intensive microchip design training course for lecturers. At the end of January 2024, ESC and Lac Hong University signed a cooperation agreement on training and establishing a microchip center in Dong Nai. This event received the attention of Dong Nai province leaders and Dong Nai province leaders said that there will be mechanisms and policies to encourage universities to train human resources in the microchip industry.

According to Professor Dang Luong Mo, identifying a standard training model, closely linked to the development of the microchip industry in the world, is the way that microchip human resource training centers aim for. From ESC in SHTP and through recent cooperation with universities in the Southern region, not only expanding training but also creating a spread in developing high-quality human resources in microchip design to anticipate the human resource needs of investors, businesses, etc. in the coming time is extremely necessary.

In 2024, SHTP, with the goal of contributing to promoting Vietnam to become a regional and world semiconductor design center, will begin training human resources and contributing to the replication of training models. "HCMC has identified the electronics and microchip sector as one of the priority sectors for development, so the SHTP Management Board will not only continue to strengthen cooperation to train human resources but also have policies to attract investment in this sector to develop the city's microchip industry," said Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of SHTP Management Board.
