"Living jar village" in Binh Duong

Tuong Binh Hiep Ward (Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province) is famous for its jar making craft with a history of nearly 200 years. Through time, historical ups and downs and changes in life and society, jars of this land still retain the traditional manual production method.

The name "lu village" comes from Dai Hung Lu Kiln located in Quarter 1, Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, about 3km north of Thu Dau Mot City center, this place was recognized as a provincial relic in 2006.

This place specializes in producing jars, pots, jars... used for agricultural and fishery production and daily life since ancient times. Dai Hung pottery kiln is the oldest pottery kiln in Binh Duong, still maintaining the traditional manual production method, with traditional typical craft products.

Dai Hung kiln has a history of nearly 200 years, the first founder was a Chinese around the 17th - 18th century. Dai Hung kiln has gone through many ups and downs with many owners. There were difficult times when Dai Hung kiln almost had to close down and stop production.

Over time, through the ups and downs of history and changes in life and society, Tuong Binh Hiep jar village still maintains the traditional manual production method as before, without using machines (except for the soil preparation stage) while other ceramic establishments in Binh Duong have changed and mechanized a lot.

Pottery is a special and famous traditional craft of Binh Duong. Dai Hung ancient kiln is a typical representative, a source of pride, expressing the identity of this land and also leaving an important mark on the path of developing traditional crafts in Thu Dau Mot - Binh Duong.

Ceramic products of Tuong Binh Hiep pottery village are present throughout the provinces of the West, Central and Southeast.

Each ceramic product is a process that includes all the elements of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. The soil used to make ceramics is taken from many places in Binh Duong and must be sandy soil mixed with young gravel. After that, the soil is kneaded, soaked in water, and left to ferment for 5-7 days to soften before being put into the machine to knead, mix, and roll smoothly.

During the entire pottery firing process, the fireman must be on duty continuously to maintain a stable temperature and add more firewood at the right time.
