Previously, on the afternoon of June 22, cargo ship KH 1349 entered Ham Tu wharf area to load goods and construction materials (cement, stone, etc.). At 10:30 p.m., while waiting for high tide to leave the port, the ship suddenly broke water, capsized, causing water to flood into the hold, submerging dozens of tons of cargo.

According to the leader of Quy Nhon Fishing Port, immediately after the incident, the ship owner promptly deployed response measures, promptly draining all the oil on the ship to prevent oil spills into the sea. The goods on the ship were arranged in separate components so as not to pollute the marine environment.
According to the representative of the Quy Nhon Port Border Guard Station, the ship KH 1349 was hired by Mr. LVS (residing in Quy Nhon City) from Khanh Hoa to transport construction materials to Nhon Chau Island. After the incident, the authorities were present at the scene to coordinate the handling and clarify the cause.
According to records, on the afternoon of June 23, the cargo ship owner mobilized vehicles and manpower to salvage flooded goods ashore. It is estimated that the incident damaged about 50 tons of construction materials.
Nhon Chau Island (or Cu Lao Xanh Island) is about 12 nautical miles (about 25km) from the mainland of Quy Nhon City. In recent years, Nhon Chau Island has had many investment projects, so the demand for construction materials has increased. Currently, the movement of people on the island to the mainland is mainly by boat (mostly wooden boats) from Ham Tu wharf to Nhon Chau.
