On July 17, Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital announced that the hospital's doctors had just performed surgery to remove a rare large bladder stone from female patient VTTN (36 years old, residing in Pleiku ward).

According to Master, resident physician Hoang Van Cong, Department of General Surgery, Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital, the patient had a history of bladder stones since childhood, often experienced frequent urination, and pain in the lower abdomen but did not receive thorough treatment.

Recently, the symptoms became more severe, the patient experienced painful urination and saw gravel in the urine, so he went to the hospital for examination.

Through imaging and testing, doctors discovered a stone in the patient's bladder measuring more than 10cm, occupying almost the entire bladder.

The stone poses a risk of mucosal damage, urinary tract infection and serious impact on urination function. Because it cannot be eliminated on its own, the patient is indicated for open bladder surgery to remove the stone.

The surgery went smoothly, the surgical team removed the "giant" stone and preserved bladder function well.

Currently, the patient's health is stable, progressing well and is eligible for discharge.

Doctor Hoang Van Cong recommends that when there are unusual signs such as painful urination, frequent urination, pain in the lower abdomen, people should not be subjective, but should go to a medical facility for timely examination and treatment to avoid dangerous complications for the urinary system./.
