Recently, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the dates and times of the matches in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia for the Vietnamese team.

Accordingly, coach Troussier and his team will play the opening match of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup against the Philippines at 6:00 p.m. on November 16 at Rizal Memorial Stadium (Manila, Philippines).
Five days later, the red team will host the strongest team in group F, Iraq, at My Dinh Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
This is also the last official match of the Vietnam team in 2023.
In March 2024, Quang Hai and his teammates will return to the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup by hosting Indonesia at home (March 21) and visiting the team from the archipelago country 5 days later.
In June, the "Golden Star Warriors" will play the remaining two matches against the Philippines at home on June 6 and travel to Iraq on June 11.
According to the rules, the top two teams in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup will qualify for the third qualifying round.
This stage consists of 18 teams divided into three groups. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The third and fourth placed teams in each group will advance to the fourth qualifying round.
In this group, the Vietnamese team is considered fully capable of getting a ticket to continue.
But this certainly does not mean that coach Troussier and his team will let down their guard.
Related information, in October 2023, the Vietnamese team lost all 3 matches against China, Uzbekistan and South Korea.
However, the red team still increased 1 place in the FIFA rankings to 94th in the world .
