On the morning of August 5, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued the 2023-2024 school year schedule for students of all levels in the area.
Accordingly, all students in the city will return to school on August 28. First graders will return to school one week earlier (August 21) to get acquainted with the school and class.
The new school year opening date for all students at all levels is September 5.

According to the school year schedule, all levels will start semester I from September 5, 2023 to January 13, 2024. Semester II will start from January 15, 2024 to May 25, 2024. Closing date is from May 26-31, 2024.
The People's Committee requests the Director of the Department of Education and Training to be responsible for monitoring and directing all levels and sectors to strictly implement the plan; Decide to let students stay home from school in case of extreme weather or natural disasters; Arrange for students to make up for lost school weeks to ensure the actual number of study weeks and teachers' time off during the school year.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a framework plan for the 2023-2024 school year, which clearly stated the time when students would return to school. Students nationwide will return to school 1 week earlier than the opening day, with grade 1 students returning 2 weeks earlier.
The Ministry also requested localities to report on the preparation for the school year and the organization of the opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year before September 10, summarize the first semester before January 31, 2024, summarize the school year, report on the implementation results of emulation criteria and propose consideration of rewards for the school year before June 25, 2024.
