There are many causes of facial nerve paralysis, such as: Sudden cold exposure causing inflammation and swelling of the nerve, or causing blood vessel spasm leading to local ischemia, edema and venous congestion; or due to infection from petrous osteomyelitis, otitis media, mastoiditis, parotitis, shingles...
Facial nerve palsy has easily recognizable symptoms such as mouth distortion, facial paralysis, eyes not closing completely, blurred forehead wrinkles, nasolabial folds... Anyone can have facial nerve palsy for different reasons.
This disease not only affects aesthetics, making patients self-conscious in communication and having difficulty expressing emotions, but also leaves many complications that cannot be ignored.
Whether or not this disease can be cured depends on many different factors, including the severity of the disease and the patient's medical history. If treated early and cared for properly, the patient can recover after 1 - 3 months.
Younger people are more likely to recover quickly with proper treatment. Older people tend to recover more slowly and may not recover completely.
As soon as people see signs of facial paralysis, mouth distortion... they need to go to the nearest medical facility for examination, diagnosis and treatment from the mild stage, to prevent dangerous complications.
