According to Al Jazeera , Indian media reported on August 5 that a mudslide swept through Dharali village, Uttarakhand state, killing at least four people and leaving more than 50 others missing.
Video footage shows the terrifying muddy water sweeping away houses in the village of Dharali. People run away before being engulfed by the floodwaters.

"A landslide and flash flood occurred following heavy rains at Dharali village in Kheer Gad area near Harsil," the Indian Army said in a post on X. Rescue teams have been deployed to the affected area to assist people.
"Rescuers are trying to rescue people trapped under rubble and mud," local authorities said.
India's National Disaster Management Authority added that it has requested the federal government to provide three helicopters to assist in search and rescue operations, as rescuers are having difficulty accessing the remote terrain.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the region, recording "extremely heavy" rainfall of around 21 cm in some parts of Uttarakhand. It has also forecast heavy rains in the coming days. Authorities have asked schools to remain closed in some areas, including the cities of Dehradun and Haridwar.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to those affected by the tragedy. “We will do everything possible to support the people,” he said in a statement posted on social media.
