On the afternoon of July 15, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training Vo Hoan Hai spoke with Tuoi Tre Online. on the reasons for changing the announcement time of the 10th grade admission benchmark scores for the 2024-2025 school year of the province.

Review first, announce 10th grade admission later

Mr. Vo Hoan Hai said that according to the 10th grade enrollment plan for the upcoming school year, which was announced by the Department of Education and Training from March 2024, the admission benchmark scores will not be announced until July 29.

Thus, the fact that the department has not yet announced the 10th grade admission scores is not behind schedule.

In June 2024, the Department of Education and Training announced the first round of 10th grade exam scores for all candidates. Currently, the department is organizing the re-evaluation of exam papers for candidates who have registered for re-evaluation.

After receiving the results of the review of all registered candidates, the department will announce the admission scores for grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a change in the announcement of grade 10 admission scores in Khanh Hoa province compared to previous years.

Why change?

Mr. Hai explained that in previous years, based on the annual 10th grade enrollment quota approved by the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training allocated enrollment quotas to each school.

Accordingly, after the first round of exam results, based on the enrollment quota assigned to each school, the Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores of candidates and the admission standards of each school at the same time, usually in June.

After the exam results were announced, many candidates who did not have enough points to pass the exam registered for a review of their exam, at which point the department organized a review.

Mr. Hai said that there are often many candidates who have enough points to pass grade 10 according to the review results.

Therefore, the number of candidates admitted to grade 10 of many schools often exceeds the assigned quota.

Therefore, when the Ministry of Education and Training inspected Khanh Hoa province, it discovered and concluded that the annual enrollment of grade 10 students always exceeded the target, leading to the number of students in many classes not meeting the target according to the plan initially approved by the province.

Leaving such a situation is affecting and not ensuring compliance with regulations on school facilities, affecting annual budget plans and training costs, creating pressure on schools and teachers from many aspects for schools and classes that enroll 10th graders beyond their quota.

To avoid the above situation, the Ministry of Education and Training has proposed that the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training change. That is, after organizing the re-examination and having the re-examination results, then announce the 10th grade admission benchmarks of each school, to ensure that the 10th grade admission does not exceed the planned target as happened in previous years.

Khanh Hoa 10th grade enrollment plan will be adjusted next year

According to Mr. Vo Hoan Hai, this year is the first time Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training has announced the 10th grade admission benchmark scores after the results of the review according to the adjusted plan have been made public.

In fact, because the recent 10th grade entrance exam in Khanh Hoa was held close to the time of the national high school graduation exam, after organizing the first grading council for 10th grade admission, the department continued to organize the grading of the national high school graduation exam. After that, the department returned to organize the grading of the 10th grade entrance exam review.

Therefore, the announcement of the school's admission results and benchmark scores this year cannot be earlier than the issued plan.

Mr. Hai said that learning from experience, next year the department will adjust the plan for organizing the 10th grade entrance exam to announce the results sooner.
