What does the color of your urine say about your health?

Dr. Koushik Shaw, a urologist and founder of the Austin Urology Institute (Texas, USA), said that the yellow color of urine reflects the balance between excess and lack of water, according to Prevention magazine.

"A healthy person's urine ranges from clear to dark yellow," explains Dr. Shaw. "However, if it changes to any other color and hydration or dietary changes don't help, it's best to get checked out soon."

Urine color can reveal your health problems

Dr. Shaw also suggests below are some urine colors that can reveal your health problems.

Red or pink

Eating too many red foods can also cause your urine to turn red or pink. However, if this condition persists, it could be a sign of a tumor in the bladder or kidney.

You should get checked out soon, especially if you notice blood clots or any other unusual signs in your urine.

Orange

Eating too many carrots can also turn urine orange, because at this time a large amount of excess beta-carotene will be excreted in the urine.

However, if this condition persists, it could be a sign that your liver is having problems, especially if the whites of your eyes turn slightly yellow, says Dr. Shaw.

Additionally, orange to brown urine can also be a sign of dehydration.

Green

Dr. Shaw also said that green urine is quite rare and can be a sign of a urinary tract infection, specifically a proteus infection.

This prolonged condition may be due to kidney stones, so you need to have a health check soon for timely treatment.

Opalescent

In addition to green, cloudy urine can also be a sign that your urinary tract may be infected.

"Cloudy urine can be caused by kidney stones or a serious infection," explains Dr. Shaw.
