Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên19/02/2025

In many cases, abnormal urine color is not a cause for concern. It can be caused by food. But sometimes, abnormal urine color can be a sign of cancer.

Eating or drinking too much beetroot can cause your urine to turn a slightly reddish color. Similarly, orange or green urine can be a side effect of medication, according to the US health website Healthline .

Bile duct cancer can cause pain in the right abdomen, just below the ribs.

Experts say dark urine and pale stools can be early signs of bile duct cancer. Dark urine occurs due to high levels of bilirubin in the body. Bilirubin is a component of bile produced by the liver. Meanwhile, bile duct cancer also causes stools to become pale, greasy, or clay-colored due to a lack of bile in the digestive tract.

Bile is produced by the liver. The liver is one of the most important internal organs, helping to secrete bile to digest fats. Bile is a yellow-green fluid that travels through the bile ducts and is stored in the gallbladder. Bile duct cancer occurs when cancerous tumors form in the bile ducts.

When tumors grow large, they will block the bile duct. As a result, bile secreted by the liver cannot flow into the small intestine to support the digestion of fat. Bile stagnation will cause jaundice, yellow eyes. Therefore, jaundice is an early warning sign of bile duct cancer. In addition, the patient will also have other symptoms such as itchy skin, dark urine and pale stools.

Another symptom of bile duct cancer is pain in the right side of the abdomen, just below the ribs. This is where the gallbladder and bile ducts are located. The bile ducts may become inflamed, causing loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, and fever.

Bile duct cancer usually occurs in older adults. The average age at diagnosis is 70. Bile duct cancer can progress rapidly, making it difficult to treat.

Treatment for bile duct cancer depends on the stage of the disease, the location of the tumor, and the patient's health. These methods include surgery, liver transplant if the bile duct cancer is in the liver, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and some other therapies, according to Healthline .
