Kyodo news agency on February 11 quoted anonymous sources as saying that Japan will pledge 15.8 billion Yen (106 million USD) in aid to Ukraine at a conference held in Tokyo on February 19.

The funding will be used for reconstruction in seven areas, including agriculture and debris removal, the news agency reported.

Earlier, national broadcaster NHK reported on February 10 that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal will attend the above conference along with government representatives and sectors of both countries.

The Japanese Cabinet Secretariat has not yet commented on the above information.

Recently, the US Senate announced a $118 billion budget bill, including more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine, but the prospect of approval is unclear.

The United States remains by far the largest military donor to Ukraine, providing tens of billions of dollars in security aid and repeatedly pledging to support Kiev for as long as necessary. But opposition from hard-line Republicans has raised doubts about the ability of the United States to maintain its aid as Ukraine prepares to enter its third year of war.
