President Donald Trump has welcomed a more than $92 billion investment package in artificial intelligence (AI) and energy infrastructure in Pennsylvania.

This investment contributes to strengthening US competitiveness in the field of AI.

Speaking at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Conference at Carnegie Mellon University on July 15, Mr. Trump said today's commitments are ensuring that the future will be designed, built and manufactured right here in Pennsylvania, right here in Pittsburgh, and right here in America.

The conference was attended by many senior figures in the US Government , as well as leaders of leading technology and energy businesses such as Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet and Exxon Mobil.

Information on investments from many large corporations includes the construction of new data centers, power plants and grid infrastructure upgrades, along with AI training and apprenticeship programs.

This represents a comprehensive approach by the administration to ensure US dominance over China in this rapidly growing sector. Mr. Trump said that some companies have received licenses and some facilities have begun construction.

Among the investments, Blackstone Inc. has committed more than $25 billion to finance new data centers and energy infrastructure. QTS, Blackstone’s data center subsidiary, has secured land for a project in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Blackstone also formed a joint venture with utility PPL Corp. to build and operate gas-fired power plants to meet the massive electricity needs of data centers.

Blackstone has invested heavily in the growth of data centers. The group acquired QTS in 2021 in a $10 billion deal. Since then, QTS has grown into a company worth up to $60 billion, making it one of Blackstone’s most successful investments to date.

CoreWeave Inc., a provider of computing power for AI, plans to invest as much as $6 billion to set up a data center equipped with chips from Nvidia Corp.

Meanwhile, Meta announced a $2.5 million investment as part of a program to support startups in rural areas, while also providing training for small businesses.

Google has pledged to invest $25 billion to build AI data centers in Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Google recently announced a deal worth more than $3 billion to buy electricity for data centers from Brookfield Asset Management's hydroelectric plants.

This is considered the world's largest corporate clean power purchase agreement in the hydropower sector.

Meanwhile, GE Vernova Inc. announced plans to add 250 new jobs at a Pennsylvania plant to produce equipment needed to improve grid reliability. The company plans to invest up to $100 million in Pennsylvania over the next two years, creating about 700 new jobs across the state.

FirstEnergy Corp. will invest $15 billion to expand power distribution and strengthen grid infrastructure in Pennsylvania counties.

By 2035, data centers are forecast to account for 8.6% of total US electricity demand, more than double the current 3.5%, according to data from Bloomberg NEF.

President Trump is expected to deliver a major speech on AI next week as his administration finalizes the action plan he has directed. According to a source close to the matter, Trump will sign an executive order to implement the policies after the plan is announced./.
