The US company XDOWN has just announced details of a tactical drone designed for fast and secret combat missions.
The UAV is called the PS Killer (PSK) and is shaped like a football. The company said the UAV weighs about 1.6 kg, allowing the user to launch it by hand to deploy, like a football player, Newsweek reported on February 3.
XDOWN, a startup founded by former military personnel, says the PSK will be more cost-effective than many current UAVs, and will be easier to maintain and upgrade.

The design of the PSK allows for a variety of missions such as combat, reconnaissance and surveillance with thermal imaging technology. The warhead container on the device can be replaced to carry food and medicine to desired locations.
The highlight of the PSK is its ability to counter enemy UAVs from a distance, with XDOWN's device having an operating range of 25 - 65 km depending on the payload. In addition, the PSK can also destroy multiple airborne threats in one launch, transmitting real-time data to the command center.

“By complying with the provisions of the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the PSK demonstrates exceptional reliability and an unwavering commitment to maintaining high defense standards,” XDOWN said in a statement. The company added that the UAV is a transformational tool that allows military units to overcome even the most formidable defenses of their adversaries.
PSK could be tested by the US military this year. The product was developed in the context of increasingly popular UAV operations and applied in many ongoing conflicts.
