The art of singing Ta Leu and Ca Choi of the Hre people is a national intangible cultural heritage.

VHO – The Hre people are proud of their smooth, gentle, and pure melodies of ta leu and ca choi. This is a type of performance that the Hre people in Quang Ngai province sing during festivals, weddings, when working in the fields, when gathering around the fire or when alone.

The Hre people are proud of their Ta Leu and Ca Choi melodies.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just decided to include the folk performing arts of Ta Leu singing and Choi singing of the Hre people in Minh Long, Ba To and Son Ha districts in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

According to the decision, the Chairman of the People's Committee at all levels where intangible cultural heritage is located, within the scope of his/her duties and powers, shall carry out state management in accordance with the provisions of law on cultural heritage.

The Hre people are proud of their melodies of Ta Leu, Ca Choi... which are smooth, gentle, and pure. Along with that are musical instruments such as Vroac, Krau, Ta Lia flute, Ta Vo, Ra Ngoi trumpet... which people often use in their free time or when working in the fields. Folk music, folk songs, and folk dances are an indispensable part of the life and activities of the Hre people.

The Ta Leu melody is a narrative song, and usually has a certain rhythm. Ca Choi is a style of love singing, exchanging feelings between men and women or between men and men, women and women; the singing style is almost like spoken singing, responding, improvising lyrics on the spot expressing many different topics such as love stories, family stories, social stories, celebrating the homeland, country..., clearly expressing the indigenous character, uniqueness of the Hre people in Quang Ngai .

These types have high historical, cultural, and scientific values, reflecting the unique cultural identity of the Hre people and contributing to enriching Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage.

Regarding this issue, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has issued a document assigning the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; People's Committees of Ba To, Son Ha and Minh Long districts, based on their functions, tasks and scope of management, to be responsible for coordinating with relevant agencies, units and localities to implement the management, preservation and promotion of the values of the above-mentioned national intangible cultural heritages according to regulations.

The People's Committee of Ba To district shall preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of Son Ha district and Minh Long district to develop and implement a plan to organize the Ceremony to announce the List of national intangible cultural heritages: Ta Leu singing and Ca Choi singing of the Hre people; to be completed before June 30.
