Bald man holds weapon and beats people in District 1

On January 2, social media shared a clip recording a man holding a weapon and repeatedly punching and kicking a young man.

The incident was determined to have occurred at 12 noon the same day on Pham Hong Thai Street, near the intersection of Le Anh Xuan Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1 (HCMC).

The clip shows a bald man holding a weapon, chasing and punching a young man repeatedly in the head and chest. During the assault, the man falls to the street, and the young man takes the opportunity to run away.

When a worker tried to intervene, a woman appeared and prevented him from doing so.

Ben Thanh Ward Police have now investigated and brought the man and the weapon to the headquarters for questioning.

Before that, the young man came to deliver goods to the man's family. After that, the two sides argued and the incident happened as reflected in the clip.

Also in District 1, on January 1, District 1 Police issued an emergency detention order, temporarily detaining Nguyen Van Dung (56 years old) and Bui Thi Ngoc Anh (54 years old, both residing in District 1) to investigate the act of disturbing public order.

Previously, at around 11:30 p.m. on December 31, 2024, Mr. TAP (30 years old, from Lam Dong province) was driving a motorbike carrying his wife, Ms. HNL (28 years old) on Le Duan Street. When arriving at 2B Le Duan, Ben Nghe Ward, Mr. P. saw a traffic jam ahead, so he intended to turn around and go another way.

When Mr. P. turned around, Nguyen Van Dung (56 years old) drove a motorbike carrying Bui Thi Ngoc Anh (54 years old) from behind, blocking Mr. P. from turning around and insulting him.

A conflict arose, Dung rushed in to beat Mr. P. and his wife. At this time, preparing for the new year, there were many people and vehicles, causing traffic jams.

Seeing the incident, Vinh, who was driving a passenger, came to intervene. However, the male driver was beaten up by Dung and Anh.
