Due to the impact of El Nino, from the beginning of 2024 until now, rainfall in many regions across the country has been deficient, temperatures have been high, and hot weather has been prolonged; drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion have occurred in some localities, especially the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands. Up to now, 4 provinces nationwide have declared a state of emergency due to drought and saltwater intrusion, namely Tien Giang, Long An , Kien Giang, and Ca Mau.
Drought and saltwater intrusion have seriously affected the lives of rural people across the country in general and the Mekong Delta in particular; especially the lack of water for daily life and production for people.

The Public Security Forces also actively coordinate with relevant departments and organizations to promote propaganda, dissemination, and guidance for people to implement measures to cope with heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion. Coordinate with relevant functional departments and the People's Committees at the district level to strengthen inspection and strictly control the business activities and trade of equipment and tools for storing fresh water; business activities and trade of fresh water for production and daily life; buying and selling of counterfeit and poor quality goods. At the same time, promptly inform about the situation of natural disasters and images and activities of the People's Public Security Forces in disaster prevention, control, and search and rescue on the media and mass media.
