Mac The Nhan's real name is Phan Cong Thiet, born in 1939. His pen name Mac The Nhan is explained to mean "contributing a drop of ink to life" and not literally as many people mistakenly believe. Musician Mac The Nhan also uses other pen names, Nha Uyen and Phan Tran, to compose.

Mac The Nhan started composing in 1958, his first song was “Homeland Moon”. Some of his typical works: “Cho sat long em”, “Ngay xuan vui cuoi”, “Chuyen buon tinh yeu”, “Mua xuan cuoi em”, “Em ve voi nguoi”, “Tra lai anh”…
The famous song "Cho hoa long em" has been performed by many singers such as: Si Phu, Elvis Phuong, Che Linh, Dam Vinh Hung, Cam Ly, Le Quyen... Among them, according to musician Mac The Nhan, he likes to listen to singer Huong Lan sing the most.
Three years ago, musician Mac The Nhan had to be rushed to the emergency room due to a stroke. The "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" program organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Bank visited him.
The funeral of musician Mac The Nhan was held at his private home: 1002 Ha Huy Giap Street, An Phu Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
