Japan sponsors 25 modern equipment systems for dioxin and environmental analysis

On the afternoon of January 16, at the National Action Center for Overcoming the Consequences of Chemical and Environmental Toxic Substances - Southern Branch (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City), the Chemical Corps coordinated with Japanese authorities to organize the handover ceremony of equipment for the project "Receiving equipment for dioxin and environmental analysis sponsored by the Japanese Government".

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said: The receipt of 25 modern equipment systems for dioxin and environmental analysis sponsored by the Japanese Government will help Vietnam accelerate the implementation of the required goals and national plan on overcoming dioxin chemical toxins in Vietnam in the 2021-2030 period.

The project “Receiving equipment for dioxin and environmental analysis funded by the Japanese government” is implemented in 5 years (from 2019 to 2023), with a total investment of 2,827,819 USD, of which the Japanese government's non-refundable aid is 2,719,790 USD, and Vietnam's counterpart fund is 108,029 USD. The project is assigned to the Ministry of National Defense as the managing agency, the project owner is the National Action Center for overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals and the environment (NACCET).

The project aims to improve the capacity for investigation, assessment, treatment, and technology transfer to overcome the consequences of post-war toxic residues, especially Agent Orange/dioxin; train and improve the capacity for exploitation and use of technical equipment; invest in upgrading infrastructure, electricity and water systems, exhaust gas and wastewater treatment systems for laboratories at NACCET Southern Branch to ensure technical requirements for equipment.
